Randy's Year of Long Distance Travel
Randy is an excellent driver. Thank goodness for that because we have completed two cross-country trips and still have one more to go before the end of this year!
The first trip was our awesome adventure to Maine. This year, our time in the Northeast was shorter than usual because we had a really important wedding to attend: Randy's brother, Barry. That's the trip where we drove to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. There's one more to go: Our trip to South Florida to enjoy the holidays with Jen's family. Randy's year also included a chance to take the kids to their first Avett Brothers concert (and it was Jordan's first big show ever) and to a Springsteen show. We love extending our love of music to the kids. |
Along with the travel and the music, Randy became the king of tailgates. For the first time, we snagged a parking pass and decided to throw a tailgate during each home game. Thanks to our tailgates, Randy has discovered some really excellent meals and is the king of grilling. (We even purchased a new collapsable grill so it's easy to fit in our car.) We had an amazing turn out to our tailgates... with new and old friends. After years of bouncing from tailgate to tailgate, we totally understand why you would want to go through all the work of holding one: The fun and friends. We're thinking about continuing the tradition again next year.
Randy is thankful for the overwhelming support from friends, family and students after his mom's death. It was an unexpected blow to our family and we all are honored by the love and support we received during this difficult time.
Along with travel and tailgates, Randy continues to help lead the KOMU newsroom. He's the executive producer and this school year is helping with an on air performance class. He continues to help inspire and grow awesome journalists. |
